Industrial Concrete Levelling with Polyurethane Foam.

Industrial Concrete Levelling with Polyurethane Foam.

The foundation is the most essential part of any building. It is what supports the rest of the structure. Industrial buildings are big and heavy, so they need a solid foundation to support them. Like other large structures, industrial building foundations can begin to sink and settle due to environmental factors like erosion and the natural freeze/thaw cycle. Settling foundation slabs can cause uneven and cracked floors, which can be hazardous to employees and customers. To prevent accidents, industrial property owners need to fix sinking and settling foundations quickly. Traditional concrete lifting methods like mudjacking are messy, time-consuming and don't last. Luckily we have the best solution! Polyurethane concrete levelling, also known as foam jacking, slab jacking or polyjacking, can return industrial foundation slabs to their original height quickly and easily. Read on if you want to learn more about how lifting sunken slabs with polyurethane can benefit your industrial building!

What is Polyurethane Concrete Levelling?

Polyurethane concrete levelling, or slab jacking, is an innovative way to lift sunken and settled concrete slabs. Polyurethane foam has changed the industrial concrete levelling game. Foam jacking is quick, efficient and long-lasting, and it's easy to see why more and more property owners are choosing it over mudjacking. Our process is simple; we start by drilling a few 5/8-inch holes into the top of the sunken concrete slab. We then inject the polyurethane foam into the holes, and it expands, lifting the foundation slab from below. Polyurethane foam cures in minutes, and the area is ready for use the same day. This is ideal in an industrial setting because sunken and settled concrete slabs can be lifted without disrupting services or workflow. Once we are done, we patch the holes, and the job is done! Mudjacking uses a similar process, but many larger holes are used, and a slurry is piped into the ground beneath the settled slab. The slurry can be very messy and tends to sink again over time because it contains concrete. This is not a concern with polyurethane foam concrete lifting.

Polyurethane Concrete Levelling is Cost Effective

Slab jacking is a very cost-effective method for lifting sunken and settled industrial concrete slabs. Polyurethane foam is extremely durable and long-lasting, eliminating the need for the process to be completed again! With mudjacking, the process often needs to be repeated because the mudjacking slurry is susceptible to the same issues that caused the slab to sink in the first place. Foam jacking also allows us to lift and level settled concrete slabs before they become unusable and need to be replaced. This makes it ideal for industrial buildings as the cost of replacing a slab is far more than having it lifted. The cost of polyurethane foam concrete lifting varies depending on the size of the project. But it is still far less expensive to raise concrete slabs than replace them.

Polyurethane Foam is Durable and Long-Lasting

Our polyurethane foam is incredibly strong. It can support up to 4,000 pounds per square foot, making it perfect for industrial applications. Polyurethane foam is also extremely long-lasting. It is water resistant and will not degrade over time if water is present in the soil. It is also resistant to the elements and will last for literal lifetimes. In most cases, foam jacking is a permanent solution to sunken and settled concrete slabs.

Polyurethane Foam is Environmentally Friendly

Polyurethane foam has many benefits; one of the best is that it is environmentally friendly. The polyurethane foam we use is made partly of recycled materials and contains no toxic chemicals. When polyurethane foam is used to lift sunken slabs, there is no risk of contaminating the soil and groundwater surrounding them. Foam jacking also eliminates the need to pour a new slab if your existing one is still in good condition but has begun to sink or settle. This helps keep old concrete out of landfills, adding to polyurethane foam's environmentally friendly benefits.
