CASE STUDY

Grainger Canada Warehouse Floor Stabilization

Re-Levelling a 10,000 sq ft Distribution Facility Without Operational Downtime

EXPLORE

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Re-Levelling a 10,000 sq ft Distribution Facility

  • Location:

    Greater Vancouver Area

  • Project Type:

    Warehouse Floor Stabilization

  • Area Restored:

    10,000 sq ft

  • Solution:

    Precision Polyurethane Injection

A high-volume Grainger Canada distribution warehouse experienced ongoing slab settlement across multiple areas of the facility. Uneven floor conditions began impacting forklift movement, pallet handling, equipment efficiency, and overall workplace safety.
Because the warehouse was operating at full capacity, the repair solution needed to be:
• Fast• Non-invasive• Safe for active operations• Completed without shutting down distribution flow
Our team implemented a precision polyurethane lifting and stabilization system that restored slab performance while allowing warehouse operations to continue uninterrupted.

Unstable Concrete Bridge

The Challenge

Uneven slab sections across approximately 10,000 sq ft

Ongoing settlement caused by underlying voids

Constant forklift and material handling traffic

Shelving systems could not be removed

Minimal tolerance for downtime or disruption

Safety concerns for staff and warehouse operations

Distribution operations needed to remain fully functional throughout the repair process, requiring phased work and minimal disruption to active warehouse traffic.

The Solution

Our team utilized a targeted polyurethane injection process to lift and stabilize the affected slab areas. Small injection points were drilled throughout the floor, allowing for controlled placement of high-density polyurethane beneath the concrete.
As the material expanded, it filled voids and gently raised the slab back to the desired elevation. Work was completed in phases to maintain full warehouse functionality, allowing operations to continue safely during the repair process.

The lightweight polyurethane restored structural support beneath the slab without adding significant load to the unstable subgrade.

The Results & Benefits

  • Restored Level Floor Conditions

Critical traffic routes stabilized and corrected

  • Immediate Load-Bearing Support

    No lengthy cure time required

  • Restored Level Floor Conditions

Critical traffic routes stabilized and corrected

  • Lightweight Structural Support

No additional stress added to subgrade soils

  • Cost Savings Achieved

Avoided full slab demolition and replacement

  • Improved Workplace Safety

Safer movement for staff, forklifts, and equipment

The facility remained operational throughout the repair process while achieving full slab stabilization and elevation correction.

Long-Term Performance

This project demonstrates how polyurethane injection technology can solve large-scale industrial slab settlement issues quickly and efficiently without interrupting critical business operations. The final solution delivered long-term slab stabilization, improved safety & efficiency, reduced maintenance concerns, and extended service life of the warehouse floor.
